About the night
LOOT at Open Lobby
LOOT is an artistic project and platform between performance art, sound, and politically emancipatory party culture. At its center is the queer SWANA diaspora (Southwest Asia and North Africa) with its diverse experiences, histories, and lived realities.
For LOOT, SWANA is not a fixed entity but a region full of languages, sounds, and forms of belonging, constantly changing through migration, diaspora, and social upheaval. Sound is more than accompaniment: it is power. It carries memory, occupies space, and brings people into relation. Through body, DJing, and performance, LOOT looks for ways to make this diversity and its transformation audible and tangible.
Starting from the question of how community can emerge between different historical experiences, languages, and positions of power without flattening differences, LOOT understands club and nightlife not as spaces of consumption but as sites of reclaiming: somatic and performative spaces for gathering, resistance, and solidarity-building.
LOOT works from a decolonial and queer-feminist perspective and is based in North Rhine-Westphalia. Coming together without being the same: this is the starting point for exchange, networking, and collective action.
